EYEfi has been proudly involved in the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre Appeal for Austin Health since 2006. This year, the centre approached EYEfi to assist with yet another interesting challenge – to deploy an outdoor camera system to record a demolition and the building of the new Cancer Centre, over a two and half year period.
The images also had to be recorded and stored offsite to create a time-lapse of the project; and for distribution to a new website to feature the centre’s progress.
![]() Austin Health CEO, Dr Brendan Murphy said, “We are really excited that our extensive community of donors, supporters and stakeholders worldwide will be able to see our dream being realised. We are enormously grateful to EYEfi for their generous support of this great technology."
EYEfi cameras utilise 3G mobile networks, sending images and information to EYEfi’s servers in Melbourne where they can be viewed or re-distributed to anywhere in the world.
The system is designed for public domain applications, enabling cameras and users to be located almost anywhere, making it perfect for monitoring of construction sites such as Olivia’s new Cancer and Wellness Centre development at the Austin.
EYEfi’s Managing Director, Simon Langdon said that, “We are really pleased to see our solution go to work for such a good cause. This is a sponsorship we are extremely proud of.”

While EYEfi is primarily focused on the development and deployment of its emergency services solution, EYEfi SPARC, Mr Langdon added that the application of the EYEfi system at Austin Health shows how adaptable the service is.
“Providing visual documentation of this exciting project with the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre demonstrates the flexibility of our hosted system. EYEfi can monitor projects like this from cameras located almost anywhere in Australia”, said Mr Langdon.
EYEfi cameras are solar powered, wirelessly connected using Telstra’s NextG network and can be rapidly deployed throughout metropolitan, regional and remote areas.
EYEfi cameras currently provide images from a variety of fixed and mobile applications such as VicRoads mobile incident management vehicles, fixed cameras on freeways, portable trailers at the Formula 1 Grand Prix and from the mountain tops of Victoria where EYEfi SPARC cameras provide visibility and environmental monitoring over vast areas of the forest and urban interface.
