EYEfi's Managing Director and inventor of EYEfi SPARC, Simon Langdon, will feature on the ABC's New Inventors bushfire special going to air on February 3, 2010.

For EYEfi, this tops off an eventful 2009 as our leading edge EYEfi SPARC technology emerged from 4+ years R&D and onto the centre stage of Black Saturday and subsequently the Victorian Bushfire altRoyal Commission.

EYEfi SPARC, along with some other great Australian technology will be featured in the ABC's first episode next year, as part of a bushfire special that aligns with the anniversary of Black Saturday.

The pictures in this article were taken during the onsite filming at Mt Riddell near Healesville in Victoria, where an EYEfi SPARC wireless and solar powered camera monitors the Maroondah Dam water catchment area. The show also features EYEfi's portable trailer and the end-to-end system.

altMr Langdon said that "working with the team at the ABC was a thoroughly enjoyable experience - this is a truly uniquely important show that provides much needed support and exposure for start-up technology here in Australia".

The ABC New Inventors program receives over 1000 submissions each year, with only 100 being accepted. EYEfi and the other participants were all invited to feature their technology in the upcoming bushfire special.

EYEfi would like to thank the ABC for their support and also Melbourne Water Corporation for providing the crew with access to the park for filming.

The ABC's New Inventors:

'The New Inventors' is all about inventions and inventors. Each week 3 totally new, never before seen inventions are demonstrated, examined, prodded, pushed, pulled and occasionally dropped by host James O'Loghlin. Their inventors are then subjected to a barrage of questions by the 3 member judging panel. At the end of the show the judges choose a winner, who may advance to the show's grand final at the end of the year. Whilst analysis of inventions is rigorous, the amazing and inspiring work of inventors is always recognised. The show celebrates the inventiveness and resourcefulness of the human mind, and the determination and hard work of those who dream big dreams, and then slave away to make them real.

Thrown into the mix are entertaining, informative and even funny segments on the history of inventing, inventions of the future, and about some of the extraordinary inventors who have helped shape our world.

If you are interested in the world, curious about the future, and own a television, it's the show for you. More about the show»
